Principles of Being a Good Parent



When one has become a parent, first and foremost you need to watch out for your behavior when around kids. One cannot act just anyhow, and your children are watching you. As individuals, we need to understand that when kids are shown love too much, they tend to change and become a burden to parents. They become spoiled and can lack respect towards their parents thus one should be one more careful not to exaggerate on this. In this generation, most parents don't take time with their kids because maybe they are so much occupied at work, but you find out that it is healthy to share your time with your kids.


Children grow up so first so need to consider being with them as they develop. As a parent, you should know which age affects your kid and watch out for them carefully. Also when some kids reach a certain age, they may be depressed due to one factor or the other. This may be due to lack of enough sleep or the peer pressure. It is usually advisable for any parent to be close to their kids which helps them as well to grow healthy. They might also want to share some of their moments with their parents this helps in reducing the stress they might be having some of the questions that may disturb them, but when they share it with a parent, it becomes easier for them. Having set some rules at home is also helpful when you want to manage your child behavior. This will help you know if the kid is abiding by your standards. If not, then the child should be disciplined. Consistency is of the essence when it comes to the rules you have set as a parent this is because when a child misbehaves then it for a parent to be blamed. Children should not have that freedom because they tend to misuse and it is not right even in a society to have an undisciplined child.


It is essential to treat your child with respect this helps them to have courtesy that they could give it to anyone. Your relationship with your kid matters a lot because it might create a good foundation or not be depending on how you have raised them. We need to know that children treat other people the way they have seen their parents treating them and it is good when a kid speaks politely towards anyone, this comes along with how their parents have taught them or how they have learned through their growing period.
